🎉 Idza Luhumyo Wins 2022 Caine Prize 🎉

 

Catalyst Press, along with our publishing partners Short Story Day Africa, are pleased to announce that Idza Luhumyo has won this year's Caine Prize for African Writing! Idza takes the £10,000 prize, beating 267 eligible entries— a record number of submissions for the prize. She will be published in the 2022 AKO Caine Prize anthology later this year by Cassava Republic Press.   Her award-winning short story, "Five Years Next Sunday," was published in our 2021 release Disruption: New Short Fiction from Africa. Disruption is the most recent Short Story Day Africa anthology, and features 21 new and emerging authors from across the African continent.   This is only the beginning for Idza, and we couldn't be prouder to be one of the steps on what we're sure will be her amazing writing journey.   Congratulations to Idza and to all of the finalists!
