            | Women in
Translation Month SaleAugust is Women in Translation Month, an annual celebration started
by book blogger Meytal Radzinski in 2013 "with the goal
of promoting women writers from around the world writing in
languages other than English." In celebration of this year's
            event, we're offering 20%
            off of Sacrificed
(paperback or ebook), the U.S. debut of author Chanette Paul.

Translated from Afrikaans by Elsa Silke, this thriller/family drama
crosses borders and eras, as one woman's search for the truth
behind her painful past leads her from South Africa to the Congo’s
sparkling diamond mines to Belgium’s finest art galleries to
uncover a lifetime's worth of secrets. The sale runs through the
            end of the month.

Be sure to head to our site to read interviews with Chanette
            and Elsa,
and follow #WITMonth and #WomenInTranslation across social media to
discover other great new writers from around the globe. And check
out the Women In Translation Month website

is a publication “for amputees who want to live more fully.”
This month’s Imbiza Journal, a South

Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu (The Theory of
Flight) was recently in conversation with author
Tsitsi Jaji in an event hosted by Red Rice and Beans Diaspora
Bookstore in Charlotte, North Carolina. You can watch a recording
            of their conversation here. And
special thanks to Zweli's, a Zimbabwean restaurant in Durham, NC,
who provided a recipe inspired by Siphiwe's book and Zimbabwe's
food culture. You can download the recipe for Dovi Chicken/Tofu here.

Niki Daly, the author of the
            Lolo
series for beginning readers (among many other titles)
was recently awarded a South African Children’s Laureate Award
by the University of the Western Cape Faculty of Education and the
SA Festival of Children’s Literature. In presenting Niki the prize,
children’s lit scholar and editor Dr. Mia Oosthuizen said it nicely
“you capture the imagination and children’s magnificent everyday
lives.” We're excited to be publishing two more of Niki's books in
            2022— Fly High, Lolo
            and On My Papa's
            Shoulders.

Gloria Ndlovu at the Brooklyn Book Festival We are thrilled to announce that Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu, author of The Theory of Flight
            and The History of Man,
will be appearing at the Brooklyn Book Festival! This year's event
runs September 26 through October 4, and is a mix of in-person
and virtual appearances. Siphiwe is part of an incredible line-up

Through the lives of a few families and the fate of a single patch
            of ground, The
Theory of Flight sketches decades of national history
in an unnamed country in Southern Africa – from colonial occupation
through the freedom struggle. The follow-up, The History of Man
shifts the perspective to that of the colonizer, exploring this
same history through the eyes of one man on his journey from
boyhood to manhood, and the changes that befall him through love,
loss, and war. With sympathy, complexity, and penetrating insight,
the novel explores what makes a man, a father, and a nation. The Theory of Flight
            is out now, and The
History of Man is out in January.
